First off: I have been absent this week, and for this I apologize. Work became hectic because Something Broke, which has resulted in me being at the data center for about 13 hours now, and I shall probably be here for another 10. The thing that broke has largely been fixed, but we’re basically manning battle stations 24/7 in case Something Else Happens, which means I am stuck at work with no real responsibilities other than availability for the next half day.

This gives me time to produce me a wee posty about Our Extra-Awesome Weekend.

Last Thursday evening, Sarah and I left rehearsal, got home, looked at each other, and simultaneously said “Road TRIP, beotch.” We piled our crap in the car and took off for parts unknown. If you believe this, you are dumber than drywall mud. Even WITHOUT the presence of a child in our lives, Sarah and I have to plan our playtimes roughly 2 months in advance, because otherwise I tend to schedule work, or someone plans a party, or some such road trip canceller. At any rate, we piled our crap in the Good Car and headed south to Richmond to visit the Richmond Krew, which consists of The White Pepper, K-beef, B-beef, Ass-beef, and Karen The DreemSlaya.

We arrived late Thursday evening, sat around with Kyle and Kristy for a bit. The next day, we got up early, and sat around for about 12 hours deciding where to eat lunch. (In the end we settled on brunch featuring French Toast and bacon. Mmmm…bacon.) Then we played Dance Dance Revolution for a few hours to work off the bacon fat.

For dinner, we got ice cream, followed by BBQ and beer, followed by bowling, in which I bowled my best game ever: a 172. I just found the zone, man, I dunno.

Saturday, we slept in, and had just enough time to bathe before Jodi and Todd and Conner arrived. We had lunch (chicken fajitas: heck of yum), and then began playing sports: we tossed the football, then a baseball, and then we played basketball. I was soundly defeated at HORSE, and then we played a little 2-on-2, where it was established that I am Unstoppable In The Paint. Kas and I defeated Brian and Todd 11-3 or something like that. Of course, I was covering and being covered by Brian, who is 2 inches shorter than me, 30-50 pounds lighter, and technically, legally, blind. As usual when I play basketball, both my teammate and my opponents were actually worried about whether or not I might die. The reason for this: my horrific obesity.

Sunday was a light day: we watched Kyle play soccer in the unbelievably freaking cold (everyone but me had serious windburn, but I had the foresight to wear a hoodie, because I am both smart AND a style pizimp), watched a bunch of TV on Kyle’s massive 62″ DLP HD Samsung set, got some steaks, and got on the road about 9pm.

Made it home in 3 hours 30 minutes, even with my having to stop twice to pee. (I have the bladder of a Taiwanese prostitute.) (I don’t know what that means. It’s 2:55 am.)
